Supreme Court sentences Resham Chaudhary to life imprisonment


Kathmandu, May 16 : The Supreme Court has upheld the life imprisonment sentence of Reshlamal Choudhary, who was sentenced to life imprisonment by the District Court Kailali and the High Court Dipayal for his involvement in the Tikapur incident in Kailali.

With this order of the Supreme Court, Chaudhary has been sentenced to life imprisonment. The joint bench of Supreme Court Justices Anand Mohan Bhattarai and Nahkul Subedi upheld the sentence of life imprisonment imposed by the District and High Courts in the case of Chaudhary.

Sitaram Chaudhary and Gangaram Chaudhary, accused in the same case, have been acquitted. Sitaram and Gangaram were in jail to pay their life imprisonment as per the orders of the District and High Courts. The Supreme Court has ordered to release them from prison today. As decided by the district court, Laxman Tharu, who has served three years of imprisonment, was sentenced to life imprisonment by the high court, and the Supreme Court upheld the decision of the district. Tharu will not have to spend more time in jail.
